What other commitments are there?

We need help with fundraising throughout the year.  This may involve helping at a prize bingo, carol singing, providing raffle prizes/hamper goodies, filling smartie tubes with 20p pieces or anything else that we may think of!  This is so that we can try and offset the production costs in order to try and keep ticket prices and fees to a minimum.

What is involved in setting up?

We have 2 set-up nights the week before the show, along with the Saturday morning and Sunday before the show.  We need as much help on these nights as possible with setting up the stage, putting scenery together or painting.  We also build some of our set ourselves and we need help with this in the weeks leading up to the show.  At the end of the week we need help to remove everything from the school to leave it as we found it.

How will I find out if I have been successful?

You will be notified by e-mail as soon as possible after the auditions.  On some occasions it may be necessary to wait until the whole show has been cast prior to informing members if they have been successful.  You must then confirm your acceptance of the part to the secretary.

How do I audition for a part?

Audition dates will be given out once rehearsals have started.  It is necessary to attend 3 rehearsals prior to auditioning.  Audition parts will be handed out by our production team prior to the auditions.

What happens with costumes?

Children’s theatre costumes will be provided by the individual.  Notification of costumes will be given by our producer and a costume night will be arranged in order for all costumes to be brought along.  Our adult company hires costumes from a professional costumier.  The cost of this is offset with our costume levy (see above).  On some occasions it may be necessary for members of the company to provide some costumes themselves.  We will endeavour to give as much notice of this as possible.

When and where are rehearsals?

Company rehearsals take place on a Tuesday night at Linlithgow Rugby Club from 7.30-9.30.  Principal rehearsals take place on a Thursday night at Linlithgow Academy from 7.30-9.45 (9.30 for children’s theatre).  Our Sunday rehearsals start approximately 6 weeks prior to the show and take place in the Masonic Hall, Linlithgow from 2-5. If we are unable to book any of these venues we will endeavour to give as much notification of this change as possible.

What costs are involved?

All fees are set annually at our AGM.  For the adult company fees must be paid prior to auditioning for a part – if not auditioning by the end of June prior to the production.  Costume levy is decided by our Management Committee and must be paid in-full by the end of September prior to the production.  Children’s theatre fees should be paid as soon as possible after the commencement of rehearsals.

What do I need to do for the audition?

For the childrens company your child will need to prepare a short reading/passage from a book, a short song, unaccompanied, and our choreographer will take small groups in and teach them a short piece of movement.  For the adult company you need to prepare a short reading and an unaccompanied song.

How do I add my name to the waiting list?

For both our adult and childrens company please e-mail info@linlithgow-musicals.co.ukwith your name and, for children, their date of birth.  Your name will be added to the waiting list and further details will be sent advising of auditions nearer the time.
